In My Backyard (IMBY)

Partnering with Colorado Village Collaborative, In My Backyard (IMBY) was a 2018 Creative Place-Keeping Project aimed to shift our community’s perspective to see all neighbors as sisters and brothers, regardless of housing status.

About In My Backyard

The project aimed to shift from our community’s perspective of seeing unhoused neighbors as the “other” to seeing all neighbors as sisters and brothers, regardless of housing status.

As project partners, RedLine and the Colorado Village Collaborative toured a mobile tiny home activated by socially engaged artists to demonstrate the vitality and creativity emerging from tiny home communities.

In My Backyard created an equal exchange with neighbors to gain advocates that feel empowered to support the tiny home movement.

Socially Engaged Art at RedLine

2022 FEMA ArtWorks South Platte River Mobile Art Project - “Floodline Chime Pavilion.” By artists Nathan Hall and Drew Austin.

Socially engaged art focuses on centering the voices of artists who have been historically underrepresented by said contemporary art institutions.

By first listening to local communities, we co-create innovative solutions to social challenges alongside artists young and aging, housed and unhoused, emerging and established with specific program areas including our Artist Residency, Artist Grants, Creative Place-Keeping, and more.
