Atlantis Community Inc., describe the importance of documenting and sharing Denver's rich history of disability activism, in their own words. Both Atlantis Inc. and their politically active group, ADAPT have made major wins and advances for people with disabilities in Colorado, which have effected policy and legislation throughout the U.S. With their new grant funding from Arts in Society, Atlantis Inc. community will be expanding and updating their museum space to share this history with a wider audience. Arts in Society grantees were announced at the 10th Annual RedLine EPIC Gala on April 19th, 2018 in Denver. After a rigorous process and many phenomenal submissions, 22 Colorado artists and organizations have been selected to win $480,000 through Arts in Society funding backed by Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, Colorado Creative Industries, and Hemera Foundation in partnership with RedLine Contemporary Art Center. Grants of between $10,000–$36,000 have been awarded to 22 artists and organizations, to facilitate projects in their communities that address today's most urgent social issues.
