When it comes to supporting artists, RedLine has always believed that offering space is about more than square footage—it’s about ongoing conversations.
In Making Space: The Never-Ending Listening Tour, Bonfils-Stanton writer Toni Tresca explores how listening to artists, neighbors, and community voices has guided RedLine’s approach to affordability and inclusion.
The story traces former Executive Director Louise Martorano’s leadership, and how her deep commitment to community responsiveness shaped programs like REACH Open Studio, Satellite Studios, and Youth Art Mentoring.
Each one was built from genuine conversations about what artists need to thrive.
“I never lost sight of the privilege that RedLine owns its space...”
”I’ve wanted to extend the stability as far as it can go, because I know it’s important. If you can own your space, you can own your future.” ”
Walk through RedLine’s exhibition space, resident artist studios, and community studio, and you can feel how it’s a space built to spark connection: doors are open, voices overlap, and ideas and inspiration are swapped freely.
Now, as Martorano continues her work with the Community Arts Stabilization Trust (CAST), her impact is expanding far beyond Denver to carry forward a shared belief that when artists have room to create, entire communities grow stronger.
