Rigorous. Restless. Enduring. These are just a few of the ideas art critic Ray Rinaldi of The Denver Post called out in his recent review of Harmonious Dissonance, a career retrospective of Bruce Price, RedLine’s very first Resource Artist.
Spanning five decades of work, Harmonious Dissonance places a clear and compelling narrative around Price’s practice, tracing his sustained engagement with geometric abstraction and his steady refusal to be confined by its rules.
Curated by Dean Sobel, the exhibition brings together hundreds of paintings and objects that reveal not only the evolution of Price’s visual language, but also his disciplined, experimental approach to making.
From grid-based acrylic paintings to three dimensional works and intimate studies, the exhibition invites viewers to slow down and observe how pattern, color, and form shift over time.
In his review, Rinaldi situates Price within a lineage of influential Colorado painters, noting both his artistic rigor and his long-standing role as a mentor and educator within the regional art community.
““’Harmonious Dissonance’ gives [Price] his due, finally, and offers the rest of us a chance to draw our own conclusions.””
Harmonious Dissonance offers a rare opportunity to experience the depth and consistency of Bruce Price’s work in one comprehensive presentation.
