About RedLine’s Satellite Studios

Over the past decade, RedLine’s Resident Artist program has tracked the important relationship that exists between a successful artist career and access to affordable studio space.

To increase the inventory of affordable studio space and live/work space to keep artists living and working in the Denver Metro area, RedLine has been working with developers, city planners, and private property owners to negotiate spaces for artists.

In 2019, RedLine launched the Satellite Studio program as part of an ongoing effort to supply a greater inventory of affordable studio spaces to Colorado artists.

Access to affordable studio space not only allows artists to maintain the traction gained while in-residence at RedLine, but also allows them to continue living as an artist in Denver.

The Satellite Studio Initiative is integral to providing artists an inventory of affordable studio spaces so they have a place to land their work and careers without having to move out of Denver and/or Colorado. The Satellite Initiative is also an open call process similar to the residency and community artists seeking studio spaces are also welcome to apply.

How Our Satellite Studio Program Works

RedLine undertakes an extensive negotiation process (between 8-24 months) with developers, local government, and nonprofits to secure our affordable satellite studio spaces.

Negotiations include space layout, design, architecture, lighting and electrical needs, as well as legal review of lease, license or memorandum of understanding.

To-date, the Satellite Studio initiative has been instrumental and successful in supplying 20 artists affordable studio space.

Artist-in-Residency Program at RedLine

Separate from our Satellite Studio program, RedLine offers 2 year Artist Residencies for 15-18 emerging, contemporary Colorado artists.
