Constance Harris

Constance Harris is a dance artist, choreographer, producer, and educator whose movement practice fuses traditional and contemporary African dance with Hip-Hop and House. Through performance, education, and creative direction, she creates experiences that center presence, joy, and invite audiences to move, connect, and celebrate together.

Constance holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from Dickinson College and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her interdisciplinary background informs a creative practice rooted in cultural reverence and collaboration.

As co-founder and co-artistic director of the Denver-based dance collective Raw Groove, Constance has helped shape the city’s dance landscape through performances, educational programming, and community-centered events. The collective is recognized for its fusion of Afrobeats, House, Hip-Hop and other Black Diasporic movement traditions while promoting the power that these forms have to bring people together.

Under her artistic leadership, Raw Groove has received the Community Engagement Award at Denver Fringe Festival (2024) the RiNo Creative Grant (2024), the Dairy Arts Center Co-Production Program Award (2025), and the Guest Artist Producing Initiative from Control Group Productions (2025).

Most recently, Constance launched Love Art City, a movement house exploring Afrofuturism through unique musicality, virtuosity, style, and storytelling. The project debuted at Meow Wolf Denver’s Phenomenomaly, contributing to its immersive storyline with a high-energy Afrofusion piece.

In addition to her creative practice, Constance has served as a lecturer and guest artist with the University of Colorado Boulder Department of Theatre & Dance, where she has mentored emerging artists and contributed to conversations surrounding dance, culture, community and performance.

Her work continues to expand the possibilities of dance as a vehicle for artistic expression, dialogue, and community building.
