Johnny Draco
Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, and based in Denver, Colorado, Johnny Draco is a visual artist whose work explores identity, cultural memory, and imagination through painting, installation, and public art.
Drawing from Afrofuturism, African diasporic visual traditions, and contemporary design, he creates immersive works that blend symbolism, character driven imagery, and narrative to examine ancestry, transformation, and possibility.
Draco’s practice centers on the creation of imagined worlds populated by stylized figures, masks, and symbolic forms that serve as vessels for memory, protection, and reinvention. Through layered compositions and bold visual storytelling, his work considers how inherited histories shape contemporary identity while envisioning new possibilities rooted in wonder, discovery, and self determination.
In addition to his studio practice, Draco has completed public art projects throughout Colorado and Georgia and has exhibited nationally through galleries, residencies, and cultural institutions. Working across fine art, design, and large scale public installations, he creates experiences that invite viewers into spaces where cultural inheritance, personal mythology, and collective imagination converge.
