Shadows Gather

Shadows Gather is a photography project documenting alternative nightlife scenes and the people within them.

Based in Denver, Colorado, Shadow works primarily with Fuji Instax cameras, iPhone flash lighting, and disposable 35mm film to create immediate, unfiltered images of underground environments including warehouse parties, DIY venues, and performance spaces.

The work focuses on subcultures often absent from mainstream representation, including drag performers, punk communities, and nightlife participants. Rather than staging or refining images, Shadows Gather prioritizes immediacy and presence, embracing blur, grain, and imperfection as part of the documentation process.

Alongside photographic work, Shadow produces large-scale wheat-paste installations that bring these images into public space, extending the archive beyond documentation and back into the environments where the work originates.

The practice exists between photography, installation, and nightlife participation, forming an ongoing record of a community and its spaces.
